- Anthordox -
Strange little creatures, that's exactly what the Anthordox are. They're very rare little beings, only found in the city known as Atheria; they are even named after the city, to some degree. Even if they only appear in said city, they are even a rare find to those who live their. They are hardly ever seen. But, Atheria being a market city, if any of the populace manages to come into possession of one, they are sold for a quite a high sum of Skor.
Anthordox seems to have traits that belong to both felines and bird types. Despite their rather harmless and off balance apperance, they have sharp claws and powerful beaks. They are surprisingly agile, as much as a general feline, though they have the ability to take flight. These are definitely creatures that you do not want to get on the bad side of. Because of both traits, they are omnivores, eating practically anything edible as reasonable.
What makes them truly so valuable, however, isn't just their rarity and strange habits. It is believed that the Anthordox are good luck charms, not only bringing good luck but also act as wards against bad luck. Many theories vary. Some believe that only the owner of creature are effected by it, others say those that simply speak their wishes to it will be granted its 'gift'. Rather or not any of it true, isn't known.
Yet these creatures are able to go through evolution, if you will. Depending on certain factors, their bodies will grow and morph into something new. At their last stage, the creatures are considered to be the largest yet to step foot on Ladelle.
- Dolinki -
Dolinki are the very first creatures that humans have discovered living in the waters of Ladelle. What’s more is that they soon discovered that they were also the only creature to really take to the air, save certain Lollies. Most of the Dolinki seem to prefer colder waters to the warmer ones, which is why they weren’t discovered by the humans for such a time.
Dolinki, while able to communicate as all other creatures of Ladelle, are also special in the fact that they all use their horns in order to receive radio waves that the species emit in order to communicate with each other across long distances. The only flaw in this is that they can also pick up other radio waves, such as the one’s that a human stereo would emit.
Can act as mounts in water, but not air.
Average size, length wise, is about six feet long, including tail.
As it is, there are various types to be known, Heavy, Silk, Common and Celestial. The Common and Heavy types have been tamed by humans, in the since that they have came to close waters with humans and take alliances quite often.
The Silk and Celestial types, however, have abandoned their others due to their ill feelings against humans. Said two were abused by the human race, killed for the beauty of their skins. Because of this betrayal, they have fled the direct planet of Ladelle and can only be found inhabiting the airborne island of Reintora.
- Lolli -
Lollies were the very first creatures to step foot on Ladelle. Yes, they even came before the humans that they now seem to form alliances with. There is even some debate between humans on if it was the Lollies that created Ladelle, but that would have to mean that they were quite old. That couldn’t be possible. The humans can track back to when the population of Lollies had started, at it wasn’t really that long ago in comparison. They are known for their large ears, the only trait that seems to stay the same between all the variations. They are the only creatures known that the Gods take the form of. In most general terms, Lollies get along peacefully with humans or similar beings. But one must keep in mind that it’s also a general term that some very much dislike humans and all their variations.
Average size is roughly two feet tall, on all fours. (Not including the ears.)
- Lumins -
Believed to be the spawn of demons from some form of an underworld, most humans prefered to consider the Lumins stuff of legends instead of true living creatures. They appear in several stories as the monsters that a hero must vanquish. It is likely that much of beliefs were derivived from the hostile appearance of the Lumins, horned and clawed reptlian beasts with a hunger for flesh. They prefer darker places and, oddly, don't die when there is a lack of sun even though they are cold blooded. In hearing such reports as that, most autoimatically think of monsters. It is true that the Lumins are generally carnivorous and usually hostile too. However, if one doesn't invade their teritory, it isn't common that they will attack. They attack when they or their home is threatened, unless they happen to be hunting. When they are hunting, there is hardly no saving you then.
Awkwardly, they only have front legs, dragging themselves wherever they most go, making their front limbs rediculously strong. They can crush the bones of most creatures with ease, if they so choose it. The beasts are fairly diverse creatures, coming in two classifications: Shade and Shine. Some myths tell of how the different colorations effect the Lumins differently, speaking of magics or which rank they hold in the underworld, while some say it is a simple matter of the habitate in which the Lumin was originally located. Size also matters. The younger a Lumin is, the smaller it is. When they are first born, they are but a few inches long and are forced to living in secracy until they reach a more adult size, which can be up to sevearal feet after a few years. They eat the younger Lumins if they happen to catch them, which is why they must hide.
Recently, there as been a small breakthrough discovered; a Lumin will set aside it hostilities when willingly offered a taste of blood, and may even form an alliance with a human [or any other creature, for that matter] if it deems them worthy through this exercise. Surprisingly, it has been encouraged that humans choose to bind with these creatures, specifically the ones a few years or younger, so that the population doesn't consume and destroy itself entirly.
- Nocen -
The Nocen are known tricksters. They aren’t the caring type, nor much of the trusting sort; at least not past well known family. They’re rather rough around the edges, and seen as sort of demons. Though, they have been known to warm up to others...slowly. But if you’re agreeable they’ll eventually take to an alliance. They were originally found on Synigrad Island and are very much disliked by the other local inhabitants. The only ones that wouldn’t agree to being taken in were the Coal and Teal colors which are still available on Synigrad for those more daring to seek them. Though they themselves are rather superstitious, and keep to themselves for the most part, they most certainly have been found to play tricks on the village people; though those who have been seen doing so have been more to the adolescent youth of their tribes. Though they are omnivorous, they tend to enjoy spearing down fruits form the many tropical trees on the island.
Average size is about 5'5" tall, about the size of an average human.
- Ootle -
Ootles are perhaps one of the...less interesting and somehow highly interesting creatures of Ladelle. It was said that they originated from the depths of the sea, never before seen by human or Lolli eye until they migrated onto land. They came and went from the sea to the shore until they abandoned the water almost completely. Taking up life on land, they lost their flippers and gained feet. However, the can still breath underwater if they so choose to take a swim. What is perhaps their most unique attribute is that they steal their apparence from other objects or living things. When they moved onto land, they took styles from what they happened to find and like. Their bodies change to reflect traits of other objects. For example, the Ootles that liked Grapes stole the appearce of grapes and gained a purple hue. Some scientists question if that means they also taste like the object they appear to take on, but it's not exactly legal to bite into a living animal to taste it.
Of course, not all Ootles took on traits of foods. No, some found better traits to steal- the traits of the Lolli Gods. Some of the original Lolli Gods have blessed certain Ootles and given them a tiny amount of their unsual power. These Ootles are, obviosuly, rare to spot. Though it must be known that one will never find an Ootle with either powers of darkness or light. The God Azac considers Ootles to be worthless and insignifigant, refusing to bless any of them. No, he'd rather kick one if he saw it walking by at its horribly slow pace. Even if they have feet and live on land over 90% of the time, they still haven't mastered the land and fast walking ability.
There are also rumors that Ootles have choosen to steal traits from three worthy humans as well. Could this be? Is it even possible to steal traits from something so diverse as a human? One day, perhaps, it will be known.
- Yumi -
Yumies happened to be the second creature that has been recorded to appear in the vast lands of Ladelle. Their exact appearance has not been able to be recorded. These creatures are, however, quite a unique species. Unlike other creatures, these beings are born in quite an unusual way. They grow through their premature stages in an acorn resembling egg, that's about the size when an average human places the thumb and forefinger of both hands together, which has come to be called an eggcorn. For the first part of their lives, they grow on trees and can eventually be picked. After picking, they stay in their eggcorns until they are ready to become an adult. Once they hatch, they instantly start growing. To produce new offspring, a male and a female Yumi use special pollens in their tails to pollinate a flower bud on an Eggcorn Tree. These creatures are just as diverse as the Lollies when it comes to their characteristics and like and dislike of humans. Some coexist peacefully, while others would rather be left to venture out on their own. It also seems that they are more common then Lollies, at least when it comes to matters of directly finding wild ones to tame.
Average size is three to five inches tall, on all fours.
- Viikuan -
Quite ambiguous creatures, the Viikuan are not very well understood by any of the residents in Ladelle. They just seemingly appeared out of thin air one day, found roaming the land in various environments from mountainous areas to beaches to dwelling in cities. There are various types and new types are being discovered frequently as our research of them proceeds. We’ve even come to the conclusion that they are very much "breedable" and will soon have their own areas for breeding established.
Viikuan have come to Ladelle to escape from another dimension completely. Their original dimension crumbled, was deserted and became all but a desolate wasteland. They left to escape that fate, and extinction. The real question is, how did they traverse between their original home and Ladelle? That, is still a mystery which we are working on nearly twenty four-seven. Currently, suspicions rest on the shoulders of the various Gods. Which then leads us farther into our simple-minded wonderings.
