I accually got a e-mail from someone saying that the book is completely anti-christain and that the children or adam and eve whatever end up killing God, but the author hate C.S Lewis the author of the NArnia books, so that makes me mad that they are making a movie of books like that =[ but i don't wanna talk all religous like XD so if anyone is offended sowwy it's just my opinion and no harm intended cause I know sometimes that will happen to me -nod-

While I haven't read the book, the movie looks interesting to me. In the case of books being slaughtered on the movie screen, here is a tip: Don't watch the movie thinking that it's the story told in the book. Think of it as a new story with the same name. Sorta like fan fiction. And if you threaten not to watch the movie again, what does it matter? It won't bring any good. If you wanna compare the book and the movie and will be unhappy if the movie isn't like the original story, then don't watch it period. Books and movies are hardly ever the same, but that is what can make it interesting at times- two stories, while similar, are different. Thought I'd toss my logical-ness out there. Omg I know it is rather sad when hollywood butchers books, like Beowulf, for instance, they could have left alot of un-neccessary crap, and it would have been great, especially if they had stuck to the book, it would have been a new favorite of mine -sigh-

Alright. Religious opinions are totally fine, but again, they don't need to be talked about on here incase they do offfend somebody. Seriously. Don't talk about it or I'll beat you with a stick.
I'm not going to tell you what happened in the book, I think you should read it. Not because you'll be "enlightened" because, if nothing more, it's a GOOD STORY.
But enough about religion not allowing you to enjoy a good book, Beowulf isn't a book, it's an Epic Poem.
Which is a poem so long it counts as a novel. it's got it's own category which is Epic Poem. I started reading once, but it was on the net and I had no idea how long it really was. hee hee. XP
I'll see the movie before I read the Epic Poem. =3
EDIT: I WILL lock this topic and have it deleted if you guys don't stop talking religion. I'm going to stop this before I get talking on this subject passionately. NONE of you want to see me squash you all with my opinions. I feel VERY powerfully on the subject. I'm restraining myself from going on a long rant. Don't envoke my wrath or I will excercise my Modly powers. For seriously.

Yeah, and apparently the people who did the Lord of the Ring movies are the ones doing the Golden Compass... so if they have a good rep keeping to the story, then maybe it'll be nice and smooth and to the plot. *ish feeling a bit sorry for the directors who decide to take on directing books into movies* They must have some hard stuff to do. I hope they contacted Phillip Pullman and let him work with them like they did with J.K. Rowling. And did you know, she actually had to give Daniel Radcliffe permission to keep the Sword of Godric Gryffindor, and anyone who's read the last one, you would know why. X3 And I just think it gave people a sense of the movies quality that they actually get J.K.R. to watch them perform everything to make sure it's right. And she even let them add HINTS in the movies for the last book. XD I thought that was both funny and interesting. Now whenever I see an HP movie, I look for those sort of small details.
EDIT: And I also just had to say this- when I posted this message a "Beyond the Golden Compass" site link popped up. XD

XD haha! That's funny!
Is it really? Well if it's not the same director, it doesn't matter if it's the same staff. It has to be the same director. And if it IS him and he butchers it... I'll lose all respect for him... Well not ALL, but I'll be dissapointed. >.< -hopes the ads for The Golden Compass are all just misleading to the actual movie-

Sorry for the double post *slaps self* But since I haven't posted here in a while and no one else has...
Okay, well, I saw the Golden Compass. It wasn't as butchered as I thought it would be. But it went REALLY fast, and they didn't include the ending of the Golden Compass, where- *slaps self for almost giving away an ending* That made me a bit made. But they did have the "I'll serve you until I die or your side earns their victory." Moof, so I was happy bout that. ;D It was good over all, but the newspaper we get really slammed it... O.O They apparently don't like CGI very much...

I saw the movie too. I made a scene in the theater about them leaving out the last chapter. XD
Other than that it was good, but I didn't like how they used the ice bridge falling apart. They used in in the wrong place. -sulks- Yah, but it was good.
What did your newspaper say? ?x? How did they slam it? Like, bad story or religious content? If it's because of religion... don't dig further into it, we'll get in trouble. X3;;
